Area Info: On Oregon’s central coast offers the kind of lifestyle a lot of providers dream about but rarely find near their work: wake up minutes from the Pacific, spend your days off exploring Nye Beach, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, or Yaquina Head, and still be about two hours from Portland. Home to the largest fishing fleet on the Oregon Coast, Newport has a genuine working-town character rather than a touristy feel, with a tight-knit community of around 10,400 residents and a strong marine-science presence. Easy access to coastal recreation (fishing, whale watching, beaches). Housing runs close to the national average and costs overall are well below what you’d pay in Portland, Seattle, or the Bay Area, so your salary goes further.
